Solarpunk Power Sources & Output
Types of Power Sources
In Solarpunk, electricity is required to operate various devices. Each power source uses a different method of generation, and their stability varies significantly.
- Constant Power Systems: Energy Generators and Batteries provide a steady power supply while active.
- Energy Generator: Runs on fuel. It can only store enough fuel for about 12 minutes of operation, so it must be refilled regularly.
- Battery: Stores excess electricity and supplies it when needed. Multiple units can be stacked vertically.
- Solar Power: Solar Panels are affected by sunlight. They produce 0 power at night, and output is significantly reduced during bad weather.
- Wind Power: Wind Turbines are affected by wind strength. Even at minimum wind levels, they produce around 80% of their maximum output, making them very stable. Their base output is also relatively high.
Wind power offers an excellent balance of output and stability. Once Wind Turbines become available, transitioning to them is highly recommended.
Unlocking Power Generators
Power systems are unlocked as you progress through the game. By increasing your Airship Level and unlocking crafting recipes for electrical devices, new generators become available.
The following power sources unlock at each progression stage:
- After completing the Airship: Energy Generator, Solar Panel
- Airship Level 2: Battery
- Airship Level 3: Wind Turbine
- Airship Level 4: Sky Turbine
- Airship Level 5: Wooden Wind Turbine
In the early game, you will rely on Solar Panels and Energy Generators. However, due to their efficiency and stability, transitioning to Wind Power should be your goal.

Notes
- Solar Panel output is not affected by placement direction.
- Wind-based generators are affected only by wind speed, not wind direction.
- Sky Turbines require a large amount of installation space.
