Recommended PERKs for Scavenging
- Quick Searcher
- Removes the opening delay for loot containers.
- A highly effective perk for efficient exploration.
- Lucky Draw
- A perk that increases the drop rate of rare items.
- However, which specific items are affected has not been confirmed.
How to Gain XP for Scavenging
- Open loot containers
- XP is gained when opening a container.
- The amount of XP is approximately 1.5 to 5 per item stack inside the container.
- Items that expand when clicked (such as seeds) are counted as multiple stacks based on their quantity.
- Collect items from a Charcoal Kiln
- Scavenging XP is also gained when collecting charcoal, refined charcoal, or coke from a Charcoal Kiln while it is still hot.
- A “hot” state is roughly 80°C or higher, and heat-resistant hand equipment is required to safely collect the items.
- The amount of XP gained per item is approximately:
- Charcoal: 57 XP
- Refined Charcoal: 60 XP
- Coke: 120 XP
Recommended Ways to Level Scavenging
Easy Methods (Early Game)
- Open a large number of loot containers
- XP is gained when opening loot containers (i.e., viewing their contents).
- The more items a container holds, the more XP you receive.
- Previously, XP was granted when taking items from containers. Because XP scaled with stack size, it was possible to gain large amounts of XP by repeatedly dismantling items inside a container and splitting stacks. However, this method is no longer possible due to a system change.
Recommended Methods (Mid Game and Beyond)
- Collect output items from a Charcoal Kiln
- Once you unlock the Charcoal Kiln, use this method alongside your normal gameplay.
- Queue item production before heading out to explore or work on other tasks to continuously generate Scavenging XP.
- In terms of efficiency, the order is roughly: Coke ≥ Charcoal > Refined Charcoal
- Since no XP is granted when the kiln is at a low temperature, reheat it before collecting if it has cooled down.
- Don’t forget to use XP boost items before collecting.
